Burnham Town 3-1 Frome Town – Southern Premier League, Tue. 28th Oct.

In yet another midweek away fixture, Frome Town travelled to Burnham.

After trailing at 2-0 at half time, they reduced the deficit through Ollie Taylor, but then conceded a third just before the end after playing most of the second half with 10 men after Kris Miller had been shown two yellow cards.

Burnham were the first to show in this match as Romaine Walker let fly with a long range effort that moved in the air and required Darren Chitty to produce a good save as he dived away to his left and tipped the ball behind for a corner. After Burnham had gone close again through Tom O’Regan, they took the lead in the tenth minute as a move on the right led to the ball finding Nick Kabamaba who initially mis-kicked but had time to get the ball under control and shoot past Chitty from 15 yards.

Burnham continued pressing as Brad Hewitt headed a free kick wide in the 19th, and as they carried on pressing, Mark Cooper was forced to clear off his own line after a dangerous left wing cross from Walker.

Frome reduced the arrears and made it 2-1 just after half time as the ball forwarded to Taylor who controlled, turned and planted his shot into the net from 20 yards off the inside of the post, but then Burnham came back strongly and Chitty pulled off a brilliant save from O’Regan after he was set up by Kabamba.

Frome’s poor disciplinary record this season once again reared its ugly head as Kris Miller picked up two yellow cards in a short period of time on the hour mark, meaning that Frome now had to play the last 30 minutes with 10 men, and from that moment on there was only going to be one winner of this match.

Eventually the pressure told once more and as Lockart-Adams bundled the ball home from close range with two minutes of normal time left, Frome slipped into the bottom two of the league.
