IT has been a busy time for the Frome Women’s Institute.
The club’s secretary, Bridget Bradford, reports, “In May Frome WI celebrated being 10 and also marked the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. We planted a tree in the Old Showfield (with a little help from outgoing mayor Andy Wrintmore) to mark the two milestones.
“We also ate cake and partook of some fizzy drinks, whilst reminiscing about the things we had done and planning what we will do in the next decade.
“In June, Louise of LouiseBees came and spoke to us ‘All About the Bees’ – their social structure, how reliant our food sources are on them and the incredible communications they have. She also brought along a range of very different honeys for us to try and buy. A fascinating talk – much more interesting than our very brief Annual Meeting that preceded it!
“Looking forward to July: on Monday 18th at 7.30pm at the Cricket Club in Rodden Road we will be welcoming Jane Clark to tell us about her novel ‘Sister Sunshine’, based on her mother’s life during the war years. This promises to be another fascinating evening.
“We always welcome visitors at a cost of £5, or you could decide to become a member and take advantage of our 10th anniversary discounted rate.”
