LOCAL charity, Harry’s Hydro, is looking for volunteers to help support ongoing maintenance of their facilities.
Volunteer water testers are needed to help check the water quality of the hydrotherapy pool.
The pool is a community facility for those with disabilities, sensory, learning or behavioural difficulties and life-threatening illnesses (e.g. cancer) or limiting conditions such as rheumatism. It caters for all ages from babies to the elderly.
A spokesperson for the charity says, “Did you know that Harry’s Hydro is run mostly by volunteers? Without this invaluable support, Harry’s Hydro would not be able to operate. We now need more help with water testing.
“We have a dedicated but small team of water testers who maintain the quality of the pool water and the efficient running of the hydrotherapy pool. It is essential that the quality of the pool water is tested regularly. We are looking for volunteers who can make one or two visits to Harry’s Hydro each week, to suit their own commitments and availability.
“All water testers will be given full training so that they are fully confident in the simple tasks that need to be carried out. Each water test takes approximately 30-40 minutes. The morning tests need to be carried out before 9am; the mid-day test is normally made around 12 noon, and the evening test is carried out following the last users – normally after 7pm.
