Irish singer Cara Dillon has recently completed a number of nationwide concerts and a tour of China, and now returns with her band on her Autumn 2014 tour, performing in various shows in November, including the Cheese & Grain on Friday 7th.
The shows promote Cara’s recently released chart album ‘A Thousand Hearts’ (Sony Music) featuring the singles ‘Shotgun Down the Avalanche’ and ‘Bright Morning Star’. The release is her first since the award winning ‘Hill of Thieves’ in 2009.
Cara first made waves in 2001, with her eponymous solo album released on Rough Trade which went on to scoop two BBC Folk Awards. Two further successful albums, also on Rough Trade showered her with countless more accolades and acclaim, but it was her fourth album ‘Hill Of Thieves’ which was released on her very own label, Charcoal Records, that eclipsed them all by winning BBC Folk Album Of The Year in 2010.
Cara has subsequently performed all over the world with her renowned line-up of musicians and a host of others, including most recently her headline slot at 2013’s All Ireland Fleadh with the Orchestra Of Ireland.
Supporting Cara will be very special guest Dan Tyminski. Highly regarded as a core member of multi Grammy winning Alison Krauss’ band Union Station, Dan was the singing voice of George Clooney in the Coen Brothers movie ‘O Brother, Where Art Thou?’ and also featured on the global, million selling hit ‘Hey Brother’ for Swedish electronic dance artist, Avicii.
Cara and Dan first performed together as part of the critically acclaimed Transatlantic Sessions tour. Cara said, “I’m thrilled to be playing these venues, and I’m over the moon that Dan’s agreed to be my special guest – I really can’t wait”.
Dan isn’t the only musician in admiration of Cara. Ed Sheeran, Alison Krauss, Robert Plant, Timothy B Schmit (the Eagles) and Paul Brady are all big fans.
Cara will be at the Cheese & Grain as part of her UK autumn tour, on Friday 7th November, 8.00pm. Tickets £18 adv/£20 door. Tel. 01373 455420 – www.cheeseandgrain.com
