FROME Carnival’s annual Fun Day will take place at Victoria Park in Frome on Saturday 2nd June between 12.00 and 5.00pm.
The Fun Day is the single biggest fundraiser for the Carnival committee, raising vital funds to help pay for the September processions. This year’s event promises to be bigger and better than ever. The family-friendly day out will feature a range of fun rides, annual dog show, activities, games, stalls, performances by local artists, and much more.
Following the success of the introduction of the new role of ‘Carnival Ambassador’ in 2017, it has been decided that the selection of this year’s Ambassadors will take place during the Fun Day. Ambassadors can be male or female and must be aged seven plus, living in the Frome area. There is no upper age limit for the role of Ambassador.
Ambassadors will be in the role for one year and will be required to attend a number of events throughout that period, including having a starring role in the Carnival itself.
The role of the Ambassador is to help the committee with fundraising events, promote the charitable aspect of the Carnival and be a positive and enthusiastic supporter of the Carnival.
Potential Ambassadors are kindly requested to complete the online application form on the Carnival website: www.fromecarnival.org.uk Selection will then take place during the Fun Day, with Ambassadors being chosen based on their ability to perform the role described above. This will be judged by a panel of independent judges, who will ask each entrant a number of questions.
Selection of the two ‘Carnival Babies’ will also occur during the June Fun Day. Two babies will have a special role in the afternoon Carnival procession: one aged between 0 and 9 months, and one aged between 10 and 18 months. Parents or carers wishing to enter their babies are requested to be at the Carnival committee gazebo at 1pm on the Fun Day to register their details.
