FROME Community Hospital is celebrating its 10th anniversary with a special open afternoon – the community will be able to tour the hospital, meet the staff and attend an ‘open forum’.
The new hospital opened in October 2008, and has acted as a catalyst for the development of a new era of modern medical services for the town.
The open afternoon on Saturday 20th October, from 1.30 pm to 4pm, will allow the public to meet with key specialist medical staff, and where possible, be given a behind-the-scenes tour of the various departments.
Around the hospital will be a number of displays organised by the clinical and administrative staff that will provide an insight into the diverse range of clinics and services now being offered by the hospital.
Also, the Friends of Frome Hospital will be in support, highlighting their voluntary ‘here to enhance patient care’ policy in the community.
The highlight for the afternoon will be an ‘open forum’ at 3.30pm when visitors will be able to ask matron Hayley Hughes, her nursing staff, and other representatives from the NHS about the first 10 years of the hospital and its future direction.
“We are looking forward to meeting as many people as possible and enjoying tea and refreshments with us all,” said Hayley. “It is a working hospital, but we are organising this event so we can show people as much of the facilities as possible. It will also be a good opportunity to receive feedback from ex-patients and visitors to see if we are providing a service of their expectations, and if we can further improve this – we will listen.
“The hospital has come a long way in 10 years and is held in high regard in the local NHS circuit. The addition of the Frome Medical Practice adjacent to the hospital has led to the development of the Health Park, with both parties co-ordinating and working together, with the people of Frome gaining many benefits from this cohesion.
“I look forward to welcoming everyone.”
