The pioneering folk rockers Steeleye Span are performing a special 50th Anniversary Concert at the Cheese & Grain in Frome on Sunday 8th December.
During the five decades of their illustrious career, the band have fine-tuned their unique slant on the traditional folk music genre, infusing it with rousing rock rhythms and taking it from the world of small clubs, into the charts, concert halls and major festival festivals around the world, enthralling audiences of millions along the way and achieving gold disc success!
As they celebrate this milestone anniversary, they show no signs of slowing down and have released 7 studio and 4 live albums since the turn of the century.
The tour coincides with the release of their 24th studio album “Est 1969” marking another chapter in one of the most celebrated stories in the history of modern music.
The current 7-piece line up is ranked as one of the strongest ever in their long history and features the legendary Maddy Prior, voice of the band for over 40 years, along with Andrew Sinclair, Roger Carey, Liam Genockey, Julian Littman, Jessie May Smart and John Kirkpatrick’s Bellowhead member son, Benji.
