THE voting dates for Tesco’s Bags of Help initiative will now run from 31st October to 13th November which gives you plenty of time to vote for Park Road Autism Support Centre in Frome who are hoping to bag a big cash boost!
The Bags of Help initiative will see grants of £8,000, £10,000 and £12,000, all raised from the 5p bag levy, being given to local groups and projects.
Three groups in each of Tesco’s 416 regions have been shortlisted to receive the cash award. And next month shoppers are being invited to head along to Tesco stores to vote for who they think should take away the top grant.
Park Road Autism Support Centre is one of the groups on the shortlist.
Emily Bull, a tutor at PRSC said, “Park Road Autism Support Centre is an off-site educational provision for children with autism. Our project proposal is to build an outdoor classroom to provide a safe and secure outdoor space for our students to use every day. This would be extremely beneficial for our students who struggle in a normal classroom environment.
“There are significant benefits for children on the autistic spectrum engaging with the natural environment, not to mention the educational value of nature based learning. An outdoor classroom would bring learning to life for our students and provide staff with meaningful opportunities to integrate nature into education.
Voting is open in stores from 31st October – 13th November. Customers will cast their vote using a token given to them at the check-out in store each time they shop.
