A CHARITY football match held at Frome Town FC last month raised just under £400 for the Jamie Mines Appeal.
The fundraising appeal which was started in December last year has almost hit the £150,000 mark with donations still coming in and events still being organised.
Jamie, a scaffolder, footballer and father-of-two, was seriously injured before Christmas by an electric shock while working in Swindon.
The former Frome Town FC player had both hands and one foot amputated after the accident and last month had his other foot amputated following an infection in his leg.
Yeovil Town FC agreed to play one of their pre-season friendlies against Frome Town to help support the Jamie Mines appeal.
In a packed ground, Yeovil recorded their third pre-season win as Nathan Smith cancelled out Marcus Mapstone’s opener before Rhys Browne sealed victory in the second half.
Jamie attended the match and expressed his thanks to his family and friends and the community who have supported him during this life changing experience.
He also hopes to be able to regularly attend games at Frome Town this season.
Ahead of the game, former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson encouraged as many people as possible to go along and support the match. He said, “I would like to send on my best wishes to Jamie who has gone through an unbelievably tough time.
“Having learned of Jamie’s situation and how brave he has been, I only feel admiration towards him. Saturday’s charity match will be a great occasion and one which everyone should support.”
