A charity furniture shop in Frome will mark a decade of trading this month and is inviting the community to a celebration at the shop.
Frome Furniture Shop at Wessex Fields, run by Dorothy House Hospice Care, is inviting residents to a party on Saturday 31st January with free refreshments. A human jukebox, provided by local DJ Toby Spin, will be playing requests for donations as well as providing a varied soundtrack for the day.
There will also be plenty of bargains on offer at the event, which runs from 12pm to 5pm, with all funds raised on the day donated to the hospice.
During the 10 years the shop has been open, the team say they have had some ‘weird and wonderful’ items donated. “From a genuine House of Commons bench to an antique Singaporean apothecary chest, to ghost chairs and a globe drinks cabinet,” said Becky, a member of the team.
“The thing we sell the most of is probably kitchenware and bric-a-brac. Every time someone moves, breaks up or passes away, their items find their way onto our shelves to help out others who are in need. Our staff and volunteers work tirelessly to clean and value these items to provide the maximum income for the hospice.”
