FORMER Frome Hospital employees, Val Carpenter and Maureen Pratten, have been knitting children’s jumpers and baby clothes for over 20 years. And together the veteran knitters have raised over £30,000 for patient amenities at Frome Hospital.
They have been selling and knitting their popular clothes every Wednesday at Frome’s weekly Fleamarket at the Cheese and Grain.
The treasurer of the Friends of Frome Hospital, Owen Hilliar, said that the money has enabled the Friends to make the maternity ward more homely and provides much-needed equipment, saying they were “an example to us all” Val worked for many years at the reception and Maureen delivered babies as a midwife at the hospital
You can support these fund-raising knitters by visiting their stall at the Frome Fleamarket and come away with some fabulous hand kitted treasures.
