After conceding two early goals, Frome Town never really looked like getting back on level terms, and a third goal in the second half gave Chesham Utd a deserved victory.
Chesham’s first goal arrived in the 2nd minute after Darren Chitty had pushed an Inih Effiong shot away for a corner, but as it was whipped in, centre half Alex Brown rose unchallenged to head home. Frome started to get back on terms with Jon Vance setting Ben Thomson free, but he delayed his shot and saw the ball smothered by Shane Gore, and Vance was again involved as he played a through ball to Aaron Rodriguez only for a seemingly deliberate back pass to go unpunished.
An underhit back pass from Kris Miller led to Chesham’s second goal in the 15th minute as Ryan Blake latched onto it and lobbed the ball over the advancing Chitty from a distance of 30 yards for a clinically taken goal.
Chesham should have extended their lead six minutes later as Toby Little cut through defence and released Blake but he shot wide with just Chitty to beat, then Frome had a chance as Rodriguez was put through by a Miller through ball, Gore came out of his area to block and the ball rolled to Thomson whose first touch let the keeper recover and the ball was cleared.
It could easily have been 2-1 just before half time but Rhys Baggridge shot over the bar from close range after a great freekick from Vance on left was swung to the far post
Chesham were quickly out of the blocks in the second half and after Effiong had shot wide from edge of area in the first minute, a great run by Blake saw him cut in quickly in from left and Chitty produced a fantastic save to deny him, with the dangerous Brown heading over as he again found space at the corner.
Chitty again produced a great save in the 58th as he palmed behind a long range effort from Ryan Towner, but then Chesham made it 3-0 as a short corner was not closed down, the ball was worked out to Pearce who planted a shot past Chitty from just outside the penalty area.
After debutant Mark Fod had tested Gore with a low effort from the edge of the box, he was unlucky not to get on the scoring sheet in injury time as Frome’s best move of the game saw Gore spill a Miller cross and Ford unluckily hit the post.
