CHILDREN at Nunney First School have been praised for shaping the future of the school with their ideas.
The children have helped to redesign the outdoor learning space, improved the environmental record of the school, and even helped design the new trim trail.
A spokesperson for the school says, “Our fantastic children continue to shape the future with their ideas, dedication to learning and fundraising. We have redesigned our outdoor learning space following a review of what children want to play with, building a new stage area, creating a den building zone and enhancing our mud kitchen as well as purchasing more construction toys.
“The children inspired our projects for our Eco Schools Award, helping improve the school environment, raise awareness of energy-saving practices and include environmental awareness in our curriculum.
“They have also used their passion for reading to raise funds for the library, following an Usborne reading challenge which raised over £1,000 for new books. This has significantly improved our non-fiction area, providing beautiful new books linked to all areas of learning at school which we believe will lead to more reading for pleasure across all ages.
“Our new trim trail has also been designed by all the children in our school, voting for their favourite pieces and ensuring that everyone can find something to explore. It has been wonderful watching all ages challenge themselves on the new equipment and communicating imaginative new ways to play.
