CLARENDON Academy in Trowbridge has announced that the school received a ‘Good’ report by Ofsted.
Headteacher, Mr M Stenton reports,”I am delighted to begin 2018 by sending you the final version of the report from our recent Ofsted inspection. Once again, Clarendon is judged by Ofsted to be a ‘Good’ school.
“This report represents the third successive ‘Good’ outcome for the school; 2012, 2014 and now 2017. This is proof that we have a sustainably good school, providing quality secondary education to the children and young people we serve. Inspectors also recognised that the school is on a rapid trajectory of positive development.”
Ofsted inspectors said in the report, “The headteacher shares his high ambitions for the pupils with staff, governors and the pupils. Expectations have been raised for all.”
The headteacher continued, “The two-day inspection judged the school on the progress made since Ofsted’s last visit, robustly examining the changes that all in Team Clarendon have been so relentlessly dedicated to since my return to the headship of the school in July 2017. This report is testimony to the hard work from staff, the response of our excellent students and the support of parents and carers.
“Leadership, teaching, behaviour and outcomes for pupils were all judged to be ‘Good’. This makes us very proud and validates our plans and actions. We want the judgement in three years’ time to say that this is an outstanding school. It is what our children and young people deserve.
“The report is most useful in the focus it gives to where we need to improve. Providing good education is a continual process of learning; understanding your strengths and weaknesses. Throughout the visit, inspectors acknowledged that we know what is to be done and are tenacious in implementing actions. For example, we totally agreed that areas of Sixth Form provision, even in light of best ever top grades this year, need to be better. They scrutinised the plans of our excellent new Head of 6th Form and agreed that we have every base covered to make the necessary improvements – and to do so rapidly.
“The standout comment from the report is probably this one: “The school’s leaders have worked successfully to raise expectations. Pupils are clear that their teachers have high standards; this has encouraged pupils to respond positively to challenges.” This is what Team Clarendon is all about; working together, raising the bar and demanding the best – always acting in the true spirit of comprehensive education.
