THE Rotary pop-up charity shop in the Westway shopping precinct that has been offering bargains to locals for the past two and a half years finally closed its doors on Saturday 27th May.
The shop, which was a combined effort of the Rotary clubs of Frome (Frome Rotary, Frome Town Rotary, Frome Selwood Rotary and Inner Wheel), opened its doors in the old M&Co premises in April 2021 and will now make way for a new business that has yet to be announced. Money raised from the shop supports local charities.
“It’s a sad day indeed to be closing the shop as we feel like we’ve made a home here, but it’s been so lovely serving the people of Frome,” said Rotarian Lorraine Griffith who volunteered at the shop. “We’ve had so many people in our last week saying how much they will miss the shop!”
Richard Lines from the Rotary Club of Frome added, “Everyone that has popped in to take advantage of some of the bargains have in turn supported local charities as the profits of this shop go towards people in need locally.
“We are a team of volunteers and we wouldn’t have been so successful if we didn’t have so many dedicated people ready to do their bit – not to mention the stream of good quality donations we received, so thank you all.”
All items that were not sold on the closing day of the shop will now be donated to other local charity shops.
