Cobwebs is to be closed by owners Alan and Wendy Balura after three and a half years of trading in Badcox.
The closure has come about due to the lack of trade over the past four months. Alan said, “We would like to thank all our customers for their support in that time.
“Although the shop will be closed, we will still continue to trade via antique fairs, markets, online, house clearances, and buying items. I will also be updating my website with a comprehensive list of items for sale.
“Myself and other shop traders believe that the success of Frome Market is taking away trade from static traders in the town.
“It has become very apparent that the week running up to the market is extremely quiet, as is the week after it. This effectively leaves a two-week recovery period for the month.
“I would like to point out that I’m very much in favour of the market, although I think it should be held less often.
“Over the last month or so I have asked a large number of customers and friends about their views on the market. Virtually all say how amazing it is with such a variety of goods on sale. However it makes life very, very hard for those with rents and overheads to pay.”
