ENVIRONMENT Agency officials are continuing with their investigations after a tributary of the River Frome turned bright blue last week.
The agency has said that they have established the cause of the pollution and who was responsible, but can offer no further information as further action may be required.
The incident occurred on Friday 9th August, at the Rodden Lake Stream, which runs alongside the Ellworthy Court Estate and flows into the River Frome. It made the national news on the BBC and ITV and was covered in most national newspapers.
A spokesperson for the Environment Agency, said, “The Environment Agency is continuing to investigate why a tributary of the River Frome in Somerset turned bright blue. We have now established the cause of the pollution and who was responsible. We cannot comment or share any specifics as further action may be required, and will not respond to speculation on where the pollution came from.
“We will work with all parties to prevent reoccurrence. There are no reports of dead or distressed wildlife or fish. We will continue to monitor the tributary and the River Frome today (Monday 12th August) and work with the responsible parties to remove the pollutant and continue to work on the ground to ensure it does not spread further.”
