A CONCERT featuring talented Frome College students will take place at the Frome Memorial Theatre on Monday 24th June at 7pm.
The concert is in aid of Frome Town Dementia Alliance and Harry’s Hydro – a charity-run pool which provides a hydrotherapy pool to help children with special needs and the wider community enjoy safe and pain-free exercise.
The event organiser, Pam Brewster, said, “In December I had the fortune to be invited to a Christmas concert at Frome College. I felt more than privileged to hear and enjoy the most talented musical students, in what was a most memorable evening.
“And yet youngsters always get bad press and are always, according to the media, ‘in trouble’ for a variety of reasons – but this concert set me thinking!
“These students need to be celebrated and their talents showcased, so after a chat with Ms Emma Reynolds the head teacher at the college and Mr Joshua Hampson, the head of music, I was given permission to organise a charity concert celebrating these wonderful young people.
“So, come along and hear for yourself the clear and sweet voices of the soloists and the trios accompanied by guitar; the deft fingers covering the piano keys in a variety of tunes both classical and modern; the mature voices of students who can changez from rock and pop to chamber music and all-time favourites; the students just exude their love of all music!
“You will also be supporting the Frome Dementia Alliance and Harry’s Hydro in what should be an exciting and enjoyable night out with young talent.
“Dementia affects up to one in four people and their family is often involved in caring for the individual, so the need to raise funds to support the Frome DAA Memory Café where the individual and their carer can come for a break, is paramount.
“Harry’s Hydro helps many local children or people who need and benefit from rehabilitation in a warm temperature pool following an operation or as physiotherapy, and the running cost along with all household bills has rocketed so extra funds are required.”
Tickets are £12.50 each and can be bought at https://fromememorialtheatre.org.uk/ or by calling 01373 462795.
