Frome College Choir took part in the Somerset Music Christmas Celebration Concert at Wells Cathedral last month.
Lesson supervisor at the school, Nick Waterhouse said, “This event celebrates the talents of young musicians in Somerset, and our choir has taken part for a number of years. This year we were invited to perform ‘Oh Radiant Dawn’ by James MacMillan.
“As part of the programme we also joined in with other school choirs, accompanied by the Somerset County Youth Orchestra, to sing ‘Somewhere in My Memory’ and a rousing version of ‘The Twelve Days of Christmas’, as well as three traditional congregational carols.
“It is a joyous experience to sing in Wells Cathedral, and this was a truly wonderful occasion.”
A parent commented, “Well done to the Frome Choir! Yet again they made a gorgeous, rich sound, even right to the back rows.”
Nick added, “Congratulations to Mr Nicholls for leading the choir so magnificently, and to all of the 49 students and seven members of staff who took part.”
Glyn Bowen, Director of Somerset Music said after the concert, “A big thank you for the celebratory concert. I have received many comments about the event, but everyone I have spoken to has singled out the performance by Frome College as being outstanding. Well done and keep up the good work.”
