Frome College Under-16 Girls Football team stormed to victory at the English Schools’ Football Association (ESFA) finals last month, beating Thomas Telford School 4-3 at the Manchester Regional Arena.
In a tense match which saw the teams level on 2-2 at half time, the team came out fighting in the second half time to beat the reigning champions, 4-3.
Matthew Howlett, head of P.E at the college said, “The final was a close affair with Thomas Telford as reigning champions and clear favourites, but with two goals from Chloe Gilroy, and a goal each for Ellie Strippel and Katie Minty, Frome came out as well-deserved winners.
“The school and local community came together to support the team and we received lots of sponsorship from local companies including Connor Construction and Valley Transport Services providing both new team kit and tracksuit tops.
“A huge thank you goes out to their team manager, Miss Fowler, the school, community, local football clubs and family members for their help and support on the day.”
