CHRIST Church in Frome will be welcoming visiting musician, Kate Read, to the town next week for a concert of solo viola music in which she will deliver a stirring mix of antiquity and modernity.
The event is on Thursday 19th October at 7.30pm. Drawing on works from her debut solo album “After”, released on Leaf Music in November 2022, Kate will play baroque repertoire, such as Bach and Biber, alongside contemporary works for viola and electronics by Canadian composers Andrew Staniland and Benton Roark, which she commissioned.
Originally from the UK and having held a position with the BBC Symphony Orchestra, Kate now resides in Newfoundland, Canada. The music on this album indirectly depicts the natural elements of Newfoundland – beauty amidst ruggedness, vastness of space, wildness of possibilities.
Tickets at the door cost £10, but it’s free for under-19s. For more information visit https://kateread.ca/performances/upcoming-performances/
