LOCAL charity Active and In Touch Frome (A&IT) is looking for volunteers to join their board of trustees to help continue its work in the community.
Chairman of A&IT, Charles Wood says, “Active and In Touch Frome (A&IT) is a local charity that seeks, accepts, and supports adults of all ages in the Frome and local village communities who feel lonely or isolated, or just in need of greater social contact and wish to use its services.
“Having active and committed trustees has been an essential part of its success story, but as is the case with all organisations a number of vacancies have recently arisen or are likely in the near future. The charity is therefore hopeful that there are people in our local community who both strongly support and appreciate the charity’s mission, and might also be prepared to show this by joining the board of trustees in an active role.
“This is now really important to ensure its work can continue at the level and with the successful delivery it is currently achieving.
“Since its start in Autumn 2011 its support and activities have constantly grown, to the point where there are now some 60-plus volunteers supporting around 90 beneficiaries, with several hundred helped over the years.
“The charity works in partnership with CSW You Can Do, who provide the A&IT coordinator. Having firstly constituted as an independent unincorporated association in 2015, A&IT then registered as a charitable incorporated organisation in April last year.
“The charity provides all the additional funding and management needed to enable the one-to-one help, weekly social meetings, and occasional events to be provided. Its work is very well thought of within the community, receiving valued support from Frome Town Council, Somerset Community Foundation, and many other locally-based groups, organisations and individuals.
“Indeed its contribution to the recent accolades enjoyed by the Frome Medical Practice and Health Connectors has been substantial, as it is takes on a significant proportion of those referred on by these authorities, for help within the community.
“The charity is run by a board of trustees, who oversee the management and financing of the many activities necessary in support of the CSW coordinator and the A&IT mission, as well as providing paid assistance to the coordinator.
“If you are interested in joining the board of trustees please contact the A&IT coordinator Lucia Chadwick via email, (lucia.Chadwick@cswgroup.co.v) or on 07572 854029.”
