THE Frome branch of the Royal British Legion is appealing for volunteers to spare a couple of hours in the lead up to Remembrance Day to help with this year’s Poppy Appeal.
The Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal is one of the nation’s biggest and best-loved charitable appeals, supported by a large number of volunteers who are a much-valued part of their community.
In 2022, Frome and the surrounding areas raised over £32,000 towards the Poppy Appeal with the help of the dedicated team of volunteers.
Local Poppy Appeal organiser, Richard Aspray, said, “This year we are seeking additional volunteers to help at our local supermarket stands, where we will be collecting donations from the last week in October until Remembrance Sunday on 12th November.”
All donations raised during the Poppy Appeal help the Royal British Legion to provide life-long support to serving and ex-serving members of the British Armed Forces, their families and dependants through hardships, injuries and bereavements.
Richard added, “Could you support our local Poppy Appeal this year? Do you know someone that could help us to support veterans and their families who are in need?”
If you could give just a couple of hours of your time to help the community’s contribution to this good cause, then please contact Richard on 07511 961248 for further information.
