Somerset Council is being charged up to £50,000 for a contractor to fix the fire alarms at Frome Leisure Centre.
The leisure centre, on Princess Anne Road in the north of the town, is one of five which were recently taken over by Freedom Leisure under a new contract after Fusion Lifestyle entered administration.
Somerset Council stated in late-April that the new two-year contract would focus on “short-term stabilisation” of the five sites, rather than any drastic improvements or major investment being carried out.
The council has now signed off on repairs to the centre’s fire alarm system, with the work expected to cost up to £50,000 (including VAT) and take nearly two months to complete.
The contract has been let to Taunton-based firm Coomber Security Systems Ltd, according to tender documents published on a central government portal.
The work will be carried out between 10th August and 28th September and is not expected to result in any closures or significant disruption for leisure centre users.
