FROME Town Council has officially put its offices up for sale as it gets set to move to the town hall in the new year.
5 Palmer Street, which has been the council’s home for 24 years, is now for sale with Frome estate agency, McAllisters, with a guide price of £375,000.
Town clerk Paul Wynne said, “We’ll be sorry to leave after 24 years, but we’re looking forward to being part of a larger group of like-minded organisations, and a café in the Town Hall will mean that the coffee must be better!
“The refurbishment project is nearing completion and our aim is to create a place in the town where anyone can come and feel at home.
“As one of our councillors said last year – if it looks like a council building we’ll have failed. We expect to take possession in early February.
“There will be hot desks to rent, three different-sized meeting rooms and a café. At the moment, there are five local groups, including the town council, moving in.”
