Somerset Care’s Activities Co-ordinators gathered together last month for their six monthly training day.
The meeting was held at Calway House in Taunton and saw staff travelling across Somerset to network and share ideas.
The gathering called for celebration, with the group embracing the upcoming Somerset Day planned for May and turning up in their finest South West clothing. Outfits included farm wear, scarecrows, Glastonbury festival goers and even Wookey Hole’s witch.
Alongside workshops and presentations from Somerset Care staff, the group also welcomed ‘Active Minds’, who brought their range of award-winning activities products to test out. Heather from ‘Sing for your life’ also attended and ran a successful sing-along session, demonstrating her specialist music box.
Speaking on the training, Operations Manager, Sue Harvey said, “The activities staff make such a difference to the people that we support. It’s amazing to get them all together to share ideas and inspire each other. They do an inspiring job and I’m really proud to take a lead on the activities and support them.”
