FROME Cricket Club has a full-packed season of cricket planned, subject to easing of the national lockdown and tier system.
They report, “There is something for the whole family, whether on the pitch or on a social basis, plus the launch of an exciting new initiative ‘Dynamos’ – more of that later.
“As with all clubs, the restrictions and closure of the clubhouse has meant a loss of income from the bar and clubhouse lettings. Nick Larder, chairman, said “We have taken all necessary steps to minimise losses to secure the future of the club and are monitoring the financial impact on a month-by-month basis against our lockdown forecast. We are proactively implementing measures as required to minimise the impact on the club.
“We would like to ask our members and the wider community to consider if they can help us generate some income by participating in any of the following schemes, two of which cost nothing:-
Printer Cartridges
“We are collecting printer cartridges for recycling. We know many are now working and schooling at home and should be grateful if you would save your used printer cartridges for us. Once we are able to open, we will have a collection point in the club for these.
Easyfundraising
“Online shopping has increased significantly during Covid and if you could consider doing your online shopping via the Easyfundraising portal, the club will receive a donation each time. There is no cost to you at all and you can access 4,000 retailers through the portal including supermarkets, fashion, food and drink, insurance and travel. To register go to www.easyfundraising.org.uk and choose Frome Cricket Club as your cause. Each time you shop, enter the easyfundraising website and shop as normal. For all new customers, the club will receive a £5 donation, subject to certain terms and conditions.
100 Club
“The 100 Club consists of a series of lotteries over a period of 12 months with monthly draws. Each ticket costs £5 per month or, as a special introductory offer, Frome Cricket Club are providing the opportunity to purchase 12 entries in advance for £55 for the first year; making the 12th draw free. Each month there is the opportunity to win £100, with a second prize of £50.
“If you would like to participate, please email fromecricketclub@sky.com to request an entry form.

“Youth cricket commences Monday 26 April with the U11 and U15 in action followed the next evening by the U13s. Youth training commences on the evening of Friday 16 April and provides a great family evening with the clubhouse open and hot snacks available.
“All Stars for 5-8 year olds returns with 8 x 1 hour sessions Sunday mornings in early May and provides a great first cricket experience for children in a safe, fun environment. Parents are encouraged to join in and every child that registers will receive a backpack of goodies including cricket bat, ball, shirt and cap. Registration will be online. “Frome Cricket Club are delighted to be partnering Somerset Cricket Board as a girls’ cricket centre starting with the exciting new initiative “Dynamos Cricket” launched by the ECB. Dynamos is aimed at 8-11 year olds and will be an 8-week course for girls of all abilities, no need for any cricket experience, just a fast and fun experience! The sessions will take place on Tuesday evenings, commencing early June, and each participant will receive a Dynamo T-shirt.
“There will also be a Sunday XI and Midweek XI in action and the Sunday XI start their fixtures on Sunday 2 May, with the John Fuller Memorial Day at the club, which will be a very poignant day where Frome Cricket Club and Frome Collegians AFC will be in action against each other.”
Nick added, “As you can see, we are planning for a full season but obviously any of this is subject to the easing of the Covid restrictions. We hope we get the opportunity to see many of you at the club during the forthcoming season. More importantly though, is we hope that all of you remain safe and well during these current times.”
