LOCAL wildlife researcher and photographer, Victoria Hillman, has launched a Crowdfunder project to support the publication of a book and to mount a major exhibition showcasing the ‘Forgotten Little Creatures of Somerset and Wiltshire’ all within a 40-mile radius of her home in Frome.
The book is filled with facts and creative photographs.
Victoria’s Crowdfunder project went live at noon on Friday 1st September for six weeks and the link is: www.crowdfunder.co.uk/ forgotten-little- creatures
The overall aim of the project is to share images and facts about local creatures and plants to encourage people of all ages to get involved in protecting the environment to secure the future for these little creatures. These include those amphibians, insects, invertebrates and reptiles which are often feared, ignored, overlooked and even forgotten despite the important role they play.
Victoria says, “I hope to widen the appreciation of them and show their importance in our lives, together with demonstrating the wide variety we have on our doorstep. Little things such as volunteering to help local groups, planting some wildflowers, maybe build a small pond or start a community project could really help our local nature flourish.”
The book will be published later this year and the exhibition at the prestigious Bath Royal Literary and Scientific Institution will include a selection of prints from the book, along with other images from the four-year project, and runs from the 22nd February to 17th March 2018.
Victoria would like to thank Frome Town Council for its initiative in facilitating access to Crowdfunder for local projects.
