TAUNTON Magistrates Court will hear a case surrounding the Frome College bus crash on 15th and 16th April next year.
In November of last year, a bus overturned on Oldford Hill carrying approximately 45 people, including schoolchildren from Frome College, who had been on a history trip. One student is believed to have suffered ‘life-changing injuries’.
In a letter to parents, Somerset Council said, “A member of the Somerset Council Transport team attended the hearing [held at Taunton Magistrates Court on Monday 27th November], the hearing turned out to be more of a fact-finding mission for the magistrates’ court to work out how the case is going to proceed.
“There was a discussion between the two parties over the contentious issue in the case which is what exactly caused the accident and as a result it was determined that the court should allow a total of two days for the case.
“The case has now been scheduled to be heard on 15th and 16th April 2024 and will be held at Taunton Magistrates Court.
“Apologies, that this might not be the outcome some parents were look for from [the] hearing. However, I can confirm that a member of the Local Authority with be present at the two-day hearing in April, so we will provide you with further updates then for any parent/staff member who is unable to be present over the two days in April.”
