A local dementia action group, Frome Dementia Action Alliance, is holding an information session this month, and launching a monthly memory café for those with dementia, Alzheimer’s and their carers.
The alliance will be holding an information session for those in and around the town on Wednesday 25th January at the Masonic Hall on North Parade from 2pm-5pm, enabling the public to learn more about what is happening in and around Frome to support people living with Alzheimer’s and people caring for them.
The event is free to attend and will give local businesses the chance to raise awareness of the support they provide. A memory café is also due to be launched on Wednesday 22nd February that will run on the last Wednesday of every month at the Masonic Hall.
Organisers say, “The cafe is a place where you can come and leave loved ones for a few hours in safe hands or stay and have a tea and a chat, organised by the Inner Wheel, knowing that their loved one is in safe hands.
“There will be activities and someone to talk to and find out about services available in the area to support people with dementia.”
Frome Dementia Alliance launched in 2019 after being formed by four local Dementia Friends Champions who wanted to create a link between the support and services on offer for people living in the community with Alzheimer’s and their carers.
The Alliance is made up of different charities and organisations in Frome who help people with Dementia.
Organisations include Active and in Touch, Bluebird Care, Songs for the Memory, Frog Life and Pam Brewster who is the local Dementia Champion, and a member of the Inner Wheel.
