DEMOLITION of the redundant toilet block at Cork Street car park began this week.
The building is one of five redundant toilet blocks in the town that were labelled as an ‘embarrassment’ and an ‘eyesore’ at Frome Town Council’s ‘Town Matters’ meeting in June.
At the meeting, deputy leader of Mendip District Council, cllr Tom Killen, announced that the toilet blocks at Cork Street car park, Gorehedge and Merchants Barton (opposite the Kingsway Centre) would be demolished by the end of the summer.
Cllr Killen also said that the two toilet blocks in the car park near Badcox will be repaired and will continue to be used as storage for the market and to store street cleansing equipment.
Work began on the demolition on Monday 24th September.
