Frome’s deputy mayor, Anita Collier, recently dropped into the Women’s Shed.
They report, “We showed her round and told her about our current projects, which include wood and craft work, painting and allotment groups.
“Anita also met the rocking horse, which is being built from scratch to sell for Shed funds. (It’s just received its first coat of paint.) After that, she sat down to chat to Shedders, some of whom were gearing up to join Frome Town Council’s community bunting project.
“The deputy mayor spent her formative years in Frome. Her family moved here in 1964, when her father was headhunted by J W Singer & Son. She left for 10 years or so but came back in 1978 and has lived here ever since. She’s keen to foster Frome’s already great community spirit, and that’s why she visited the Women’s Shed. It was lovely to meet her, and we hope that she’ll come back soon.”
