FROME-based dessert maker, Marston Foods, recently donated over £19,000 to charity after a year’s fundraising by its staff.
Frome-based We Hear You, Mama Upendo Children’s Trust, and Crohn’s and Colitis UK all benefitted from the massive fundraising effort.
After raising the money with the help of Frome triathlete Paul Ryman, young BMX racer Harrison Collis, and Frome Ladies Hockey Team, the company presented £6,339 to each charity at the Lighthouse in Tytherington earlier this month.
Simon Collingwood, owner of Marston Foods said, “I’m so proud of what the team at Marston Foods have achieved in this past year to help our chosen charities, and it has been just brilliant to see the money go to such good causes. What a year! Everyone played their part and I cannot thank them all enough.”
Fundraising events included sky dives, assault courses, half and full Marathons, bike rides, walks, quiz and bingo nights, and much more.
The cheques were presented by local MP David Warburton, who said, “It really was fabulous to see the huge range of ways in which local people have raised so many much-needed funds for these charities.
“And Marston Foods matching the amounts raised is such a terrific contribution, not just to the charities themselves, but to the fantastic local community spirit here in Frome. It was a privilege to take part in the event, and I look forward to seeing the inventiveness of fundraisers tested next year!”
Marston Foods is continuing its fundraising for both WHY and Mama Upendo, starting with a fun quiz at the White Hart, Trudoxhill on Wednesday 21st September at 7.30pm.
Marston spokesperson Leona McDonald said, “If you’ve been to one of these events before, you’ll know what fun and how popular they are, so do book your team of three to five people, for £10 a team, ASAP!”
