FROME couple, Barbara and Malcolm Robbins, will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary this month, on 25th March.
About how they met and their life together, their daughter Loraine Robbins, explains, “Malcolm returned from National Service in the Army to renew his job in the despatch department at Butler & Tanner. As he entered his old office he set eyes on Barbara, a 16-year-old typist. It was love at first sight.
“They courted for three years and bought a house in Portway, Frome. This is the address where Barbara left to get married at St. John’s Church, Frome, and they honeymooned in Jersey.
“A year later Loraine was born, followed by Tracy, and then Clare, before son John arrived.
“They have three grown up grandchildren: Tyrone, Megan and Ella who complete the family.
“Malcolm retired from Butler & Tanner on his 60th birthday after 44 years’ service as head of distribution for 30million books each year. They moved to a bungalow in Forest Road, Frome, on retirement that same year.
“During lockdown they have together enjoyed a friendly competitive daily game of either dominoes or cards.”
