The Frome Dissenters’ Cemetery held a Walk ‘n’ Talk recently, sharing historical facts about the cemetery and stories from the past.
The walk was led by the secretary to the cemetery trustees, James Parsons, and was also attended by Frome’s mayor, Cllr Andy Jones.
Trustee Lockhart Murdoch said, “Jim’s thorough and detailed knowledge of the cemetery and many of its illustrious occupants was shared with all and much appreciated. This day also happened to coincide with the death anniversary of one of our war graves, Private Percy Coward of the Machine Gun Corps, who died in 1918. The mayor laid a wreath in his honour.”
Those who attended the tour donated a total of £105 towards the upkeep of the cemetery. “The trustees thank them kindly,” said Lockhart. “Future cemetery tours will happen on the second Saturday of each month from May to September at 11am.”
