SUPPORTERS have donated more than £29,505 in memory of Sam Harper-Brighouse, who died after collapsing in the Brighton Marathon earlier this month.
The 23-year-old, whose family lives in Frome, was running the marathon to raise money for Arms Around The Child. The charity helps children affected by HIV/Aids in India and Africa.
Sam set his fundraising target at £500, but his JustGiving page registers more than 1,800 donations giving more than £26,700.
A statement posted on the page says, “Beverley, Richard and Grace would like to thank everybody who has donated. Training for this marathon, and the knowledge that Sam had raised so much money even before the run gave him a real sense of achievement that was wonderful for us to see. It is a comfort for us now to know that so many people cared about him, and that he has touched so many lives.”
The charity hopes to use the money for a specific project in his memory.
