ORGANISERS of Frome’s Big Christmas Get-Together are once again inviting people to Frome Town Football Club to celebrate the big day.
This is the fifth year that volunteers have come together to organise this special event, a free festive community celebration for anyone who wants company on Christmas Day.
Over the last four years the Christmas Day event has moved away from being exclusively for those who can’t afford a good day or are particularly isolated, to a more inclusive community celebration for everyone.
Guests are invited to Frome Town Football Club for a Christmas to remember.
Emma Warren on behalf of the organisers said, “Frome’s Big Christmas Get-Together will welcome a record number of people to the Football Club on Christmas Day this year.
“Last year all ages were welcomed, from nine months to 95 years, with over 120 guests attending. 170 people were fed a full Christmas lunch and more than 200 people volunteered their time in the lead-up and on the day.
“Volunteers provide transport to and from the event, a team of friendly faces welcomes everyone on arrival and introduces them to table hosts who make sure everyone has a good time.
“A delicious three-course lunch with all the trimmings will be prepared in the kitchen on site, with a team of eager waiters serving tables. A variety of music and activities will entertain guests through the day, finishing with a live broadcast of the Queen’s Speech.
“This Frome event is quite unique, welcoming people of all ages and backgrounds together, along with families, couples and individuals. There are no complicated criteria or restrictions, it is simply a true community gathering for everyone.
“The event is funded solely by generous local support and donations, a full list of thanks will be shared on the day and in the new year.”
Any guests interested in coming along should go to Frome Library and complete a form or telephone Margaret on 465418. Volunteers are still needed on the day, particularly with transport, clearing up and even planning for the next event in 2016. Please email fromechristmas@gmail.com to offer help.
