A FROME charity will be holding an art, music and drama project for adults with learning disabilities next year.
Not-for-profit educational organisation, Drum It Up, will run an exciting project for adults with learning difficulties exploring and celebrating diversity and difference using music, drama, drum circle, art, and song.
The project will work with adults over the age of 19 to express what their experiences of living with a learning difficulty are like in 2016.
Tanya Sherriff, co-director of Drum It Up says, “We want to challenge the wider community’s perception of learning disabilities and bring different sections of our vibrant and active community here in Frome together. It’s a real opportunity to connect different communities together and drumming, music and the wider arts is a great and fun way to do this.”
The group will produce an interactive story which will be performed in an immersive way, with drums and percussion, at the popular monthly Frome Community Drum Circle in March 2017.
The group will learn to facilitate a community drum circle and can show- case the skills they have developed, and perform the story they have written.
The project will be delivered between January and March 2017 with four five-hour sessions held on Saturdays at the Community Learning Building at Frome College.
There are places for only 14 adults with learning difficulties, so early booking is required, and the cost is £45 for the whole course (concessions available).
