
FORMER Frome College student, Jacob Lee, was recently invited to the gardens of Buckingham Palace to be presented with his Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award.
During the ceremony, Jacob and others from Somerset met with the Earl of Wessex, Prince Edward, and was presented with his award by Olympic Gold Medal slalom canoeist, Joe Clarke.
Jacob completed his DofE bronze and silver under the guidance and support of Steve Marsh at Frome College and his gold award whilst in 6th Form at Sexey’s in Bruton.
Highlights of the activities for the gold award for Jacob included a residential engineering design triathlon course at Southampton University, a TedEd Club and event at Sexey’s School, volunteering as a young leader at 1st & 7th Frome Scouts and walking expeditions to the Black Mountains in the Brecon Beacons and Snowdonia National Park.
Jacob is currently enjoying a gap year with travel to Europe and the United States, where he will be part of the International Support Team (IST) at the World Scout Jamboree in West Virginia.
