ENERGY Advice volunteers will be stationed in venues around Frome over the coming weeks to help residents, starting with Trinity Hall on Monday 29th April.
Call into Trinity Hall for a chat, a cup of tea and cake from 5pm to 7pm where trained advisors will be on hand to offer free advice on energy bills, home insulation and other energy-saving measures, or help to deal with energy debt.
The team has recently recruited additional Energy Advice Champions; these volunteers are trained by the Centre for Sustainable Energy (CSE), which means even more energy advice sessions will be available in the future and these will include more energy advice sessions in venues across Frome in the evening and at weekends. There will also be free activities for children to make it easier for residents with young children.
Energy Advice volunteer coordinator Caroline Wajsblum said, “We are delighted to be able to extend our offer to make the energy advice sessions even more accessible for residents. We hope that this is the first of a series that will aim to bring advice to help people stay warm and healthy and reduce their energy bills. Just drop in for what will be free and useful advice.”
The Energy Advice Volunteers will also have slots for home visits available. They will be able to help residents install simple energy-saving measures such as draught-proofing, thermal curtains, LED light bulbs, and radiator panels and help set up heating controls.
You can request a visit by email at energyadvice@frometowncouncil.gov.uk or by calling 01373 480391 or just drop into the Energy Advice session at Trinity Hall.
For those who can’t make this roadshow event, the Energy Advice drop-ins will continue at the library on Wednesday 1st May and Wednesday 5th June from 10am to 4pm.
This initiative is part of the Healthy Homes initiative and is run in partnership by Frome Town Council with CSE as part of the Lottery Funded Green & Healthy Frome project.
