A TEAM of 10 from Frome took on an incredible challenge in an attempt to break the world record for the furthest distance climbed on a 10m fire ladder in 8 hours, on Sunday 2nd of July. This record currently stands at 42,290m or 4 1/2 times the height of Everest!
Despite not breaking the World Record on this occasion, the team has raised a whopping £7,110.30 for local charity We Hear You and The Jamie Mines Fund.
Rachel, along with her brothers Daniel and Matthew, raise money each year in memory of their mum who died in 2011 from leukaemia. They have taken on various challenges from cycling to Land’s End, to pulling a coach and fire engine through the streets of Frome. They have raised a phenomenal £19,000 for charity over the past five years.
Rachel said, “We are naturally disappointed to have not broken the record, but we are astounded at the amount of money that has been raised. We want to thank everyone for their overwhelming generosity and support. I can now proudly confirm that we will be back next year to finish what we have started.”
