WORLD-class photography is on display at Photo|Frome, a new and exciting festival for the summer.
Photo|Frome launched this week, and runs until 15th July. There are solo shows from world-class photographers and four big group events – more than 65 photographers are exhibiting in seven venues.
Organisers say, “Rook Lane Chapel features Dave Grohl, U2 and many other bands in the stunning photographs of Danny North. Olga Karlovac’s black and white portrayals of her native Croatia are rich with emotion. Aljoscha shows his fascinating ‘biosms’, which he installed in Ukrainian schools during the current war.
“Hanna-Katrina Jędrosz documents the European Green Belt along the former Iron Curtain border, where wildlife paradoxically flourishes. Astronauts will be landing too, thanks to John Angerson’s photos of NASA’s Space Shuttle STS-72.
“Vanessa Fairfax-Woods offers a unique perspective on the role of women at home. And portraits of strangers in East London by Trinidad-born Robert Huggins celebrate the city’s rich diversity.
“Black Swan Arts shows James Ravilious’s world-renowned photography of Devon, which is complemented by the Dartmoor documentary of Chris Chapman.
“23 Bath Street exhibits Ramona Carraro’s energetic photography of night-time music entertainment.
“Gallery at The Station shows many of Frome’s professional photographers. Frome Town Hall has Frome Wessex Photographic, one of the region’s most successful amateur groups. Makers’ Yard features a large-scale display of contemporary photography from across the world. And Frome Library exhibits the students of Frome College.”
Photo|Frome also has a big programme of talks, workshops, portfolio reviews and more. There is something for everyone!
