After selling out their Friday and Saturday shows at The Tree House in record time, The P’hogues have added a third night, on Thursday 19th December, to their residency.
Endorsed by the late, great Shane MacGowan, their annual Christmas shows at The Tree House have become a firm fixture in the Frome festive calendar, with this year’s Friday and Saturday shows selling out in record time, and the Thursday well on its way.
Organisers say, “The band is Somerset-based and this group of committed members is easily the premier The Pogues tribute act within Somerset and hopefully beyond.”
The Pogues were an English and Irish punk band that played traditional and original compositions, injected with catchy hooks and head-rocking enthusiasm.
“Songs like Streams of Whiskey, Fairytale of New York, Whiskey in the Jar, Fiesta, Broad Majestic Shannon, The Irish Rover and Pair of Brown Eyes (among many, many more) are perfect to celebrate life in general and evoke happy memories while providing an atmosphere sure to keep the crowd merry and dancing,” say the organisers.
“Book your tickets early. Advance booking is strongly recommended. Support on the night comes from the fantastic Ribble, who are two Northern men, a fiddle, a guitar and a large beard.
“If you take some mighty arrangements of meaty fiddle tunes, some songs, some wrong turns, battle scars earned by busking the streets of Salisbury, a barrowload of inane banter and the feeling that your mad rum-soaked uncle is roaring at you to dance on the tables, then you are getting close to what Ribble offer.”
