A much-loved Tea and Toasties session for young people has returned to The Good Heart, run by local family support charity, Purple Elephant.
The free sessions are open to young people aged 12 to 16, and run every Tuesday in term-time from 3.30pm to 5.30pm.
Purple Elephant’s Service Manager Sue Willis said, “Tea and Toasties offer a warm and welcoming space to chat, relax and enjoy a bite to eat after school. The Purple Elephant team will be there to meet young people, listen and share information about what support is available locally.”
Tea and Toasties was originally developed at The Good Heart in 2023 as a gentle, low-pressure space for teenagers to unwind and socialise. With Purple Elephant now taking the reins, the same ethos continues, built around kindness, inclusion and community.
“We know that young people need more spaces where they feel heard and accepted,” said Sue. “This is about offering something simple but important: a friendly face, a cuppa and a space where teens can just be themselves. The Good Heart did an excellent job setting it up and they have now handed it to us, as a young people’s charity.”
Expect free toast, drinks and snacks, friendly youth workers and volunteers and a calm, inclusive atmosphere including some activities on offer but no pressure to talk or join in.
Access to information about local support and other youth activities (including Purple Elephant’s own Youth Club) will also be available.
Sessions run on Tuesdays from 3.30 to 5.30pm at The Good Heart, 7 Palmer Street, Frome. There is no need to book; just drop in.
