NEW owners of The George at Nunney are planning to bring back the traditional feeling to the village pub, looking to cater for everyone’s needs.
The George at Nunney has been taken over by three generations of the same family, all working within the pub, transforming it back to its original glory.
Owners David and Sharman Barrett have a keen eye for the vision of The George and alongside son Scott and daughter-in-law Tanya, and Tanya’s children, they want to create a village pub, for the villagers.
With David and Sharman keen enthusiasts of eating out and visiting hotels, they want to make The George somewhere they would want to visit themselves.
They are also joined by head chef Jason Howard-Steele, from Bath, who will be bringing his influences to the menu. The menu has options for vegans and vegetarians and the kitchens have a separate area for gluten-free food preparation and cooking.
The team want The George to be a place where visitors can sit and relax and enjoy homemade, freshly-cooked food. The pub also offers the option of staying overnight in one of their 10 guest rooms.
The team are interested in hosting entertainment evenings including a murder mystery evening early next year and special menus for occasions such as New Year’s Eve.
They are open Christmas Day and welcome you to choose The George for your festivities and small snacks will be available for you to enjoy on Boxing day too from 10am-4pm.
Normal menus include offers such as burger night on a Monday, buy any one and get a second one free! all day Sunday lunch from 12 noon till 8pm. Also, breakfast is available seven days a week from 7.30am with free tea and coffee.
The George enjoys unrivalled views over the 14th century Nunney Castle as well as a streaming brook and waterfall directly opposite.
“We have an excellent reputation for delicious home cooked food as well as an range of chilled wines, cider, chilled lagers & beers,” said Tanya.
“We know you’ll love our open traditional, comfy sofas, oak floors and stone walls. We’ve log fires blazing through winter and beautifully landscaped gardens and a waterside terrace for alfresco dining and drinking in the warmer months.
“And we are located just two miles from Frome town centre.”
