One of the most celebrated names in publishing is to appear at Frome library this month.
Barry Cunningham, known as the man who discovered Harry Potter creator, J.K. Rowling, and more recently, managing director of Frome-based children’s book publisher Chicken House, is one of four speakers at an event entitled ‘Publishing in the 21st Century’.
The event, on 8th June, is being organised by the Frome Writers’ Collective (FWC), a newly formed, not-for-profit initiative that aims to help and support aspiring and established writers in the local and surrounding areas.
The other speakers are writer Joffre White, novelist Jill Harris and David Lassman, media consultant and co-author of The Regency Detective series.
The occasion will also mark the official launch of the FWC, which also intends to generate community projects which will give local people, with limited access to the arts, the ability to develop their creative ideas through writing.
FWC trustee Gill Harry said, “We are thrilled to be able to launch the initiative with such a prestigious event and this is hopefully just the beginning of our contribution to the already impressive reputation of Frome as a centre for arts and creativity.”
The event will be hosted by Tim O’Connor, resident MC of the Submarine Comedy Club and one of the co-founders of the Frome Writers Collective.
