AFTER over a year of online classes, zoom calls and outside stints trying to dodge the rain, BODYbasics is delighted to be able to open live, face to face fitness classes once again.
The business, which was started by Gina Fry in 1992, has grown over the years, and now has a full schedule of classes waiting to be filled.
BODYbasics is well known as a premier studio for Zumba Fitness classes, having started the craze in Frome in 2009. Other dance fitness brands include FitSteps, a ballroom and latin based class, and Clubbercise, with disco lights and glowsticks to club anthems from the 90’s to present day.
BODYbasics also deliver more traditional classes such as Bums Legs and Tums, Fitness Pilates and mixed discipline classes. There is also a new Yoga class in the pipeline and a speciality class for families with deaf or hard of hearing children.
Over lockdown, the instructors who teach at BODYbasics have spent their time investing in their training and continued education, taking additional qualifications in Boxercise, Barre Fitness, Chair based Exercise and Programming Exercise for Older Adults – for which Gina is the course tutor.
Gina says, “Working with older adults is an absolute joy and makes my job as an instructor very worthwhile. The people who come to me are vibrant, fun and engaging – mainly because they are active people. I would like to use my skills to get more people more active, from whatever starting point they find themselves.
“We aim to provide classes that are accessible, which everyone will feel enabled in. We all know that exercise is good for us, but for some people it can be a huge step to take to enter a new class. We aim to bridge that gap with a warm smile and friendly welcome to anyone who wants to join us.”
BODYbasics relocated last February just before lockdown and can now be found at ‘The Station’ next to Frome Railway Station. For more information on what is provided please go to www.fitnessatbodybasics.com
