ENGLISH songwriters Flyte are due to perform at the Tree House on Wednesday 4th September.
Flyte is the project of English songwriters Will Taylor and Nick Hill, who both met at secondary school before settling in Hackney, London.
Organisers say, “Their first album, The Loved Ones (2017) explored the ways in which people struggle to process love. The album’s crafted storytelling and ambitious, harmonic arrangements earned it the title ‘Best British debut of the year’ from the Sunday Times.
“Taylor’s parents were both English teachers and inevitably, various literary influences trickled into the duo’s music, the band taking its name from Sebastian Flyte of Evelyn Waugh’s Brideshead Revisited.
“Their second album This Is Really Going To Hurt (2021), took them out to Los Angeles to work with collaborator Andrew Sarlo (Big Thief, Bon Iver), seeing the sound move into a more simplistic and confessional mode, focusing entirely on the aftermath of relationships ending.
“After extensive touring of Europe and North America, Flyte have teamed back up with Andrew Sarlo, this time at London’s famous Konk Studios, to record their most confident and collaborative work to date.
“The latest self-titled album, released last year, inspired by Taylor’s relationship with partner and artist Billie Marten, explores love in all its early forms and features artists such as Laura Marling, Bombay Bicycle Club and M Field.”
