IN November last year two pregnant mums Katie and Hannah, went to the Children’s Clothes Exchange at Wesley Methodist Church in Frome. With cold weather forecast they were able to take some extra warm clothes for their expected little ones.
Two months later, they visited again with their thriving babies who had outgrown baby clothes to swap for a larger size. The babies made friends as they come to the exchange while their mums enjoyed a chat and a cup of coffee, and exchange clothes for larger sizes.
“Expectant parents are warmly invited to come to the exchange to choose preloved baby clothes (or sometimes new items) donated by parents whose children have outgrown them,” said Reverend Jill Warren from the church. “This is a free service and they do not need to bring anything to exchange on the first visit. There is a huge selection of baby clothes to choose from and we want parents to make use of them, so that they are not thrown away or sent to landfill.”
The Free Children’s Clothes Exchange runs monthly on the third Monday in the month. It will next be held on Monday 15th May and then 9th June. It runs from 9.30am to 11.00am and caters for children from birth to 12 years.
