Wessex Counselling Service is delighted to launch the newly named You-th Space, the new free counselling service in Frome for 15-18 year olds.
Emma Rayfield, project leader said, “We are pleased to have received funds from the Frome branch of The Inner Wheel, Frome Charities Keyford Education Foundation, in addition to Big Lottery funding.
“We are excited to be able to offer this service to local teenagers who may feel they have no one to talk to, particularly for those who may find it difficult to ask for help from educational providers, or existing health and social care agencies.
“We are currently seeing young people at the Key Centre and are looking for a suitable venue at the College end of town. The aim is to provide a safe space where young people can feel comfortable and talk to one of our specialist counsellors about what is troubling them.
“There are many issues we can help with; they may be angry, scared, anxious, being bullied at school or experiencing problems with friends or family, or feel different to others. This service is free, friendly, local – and we won’t judge.
“So, what happens next? After contacting us, you will hear from one of our counsellors within three days. They will contact you in your preferred way – whether this be by phone, email or text. We can then have a chat or simply make a time to meet and work out what to do next.”
